Is this audio to text converter really free?+
Yes. There's no sign-up, no watermark, no minute limits. The transcription runs on your own device, so it costs us nothing to run — and costs you nothing to use.
Is my audio uploaded anywhere?+
No. Your file is decoded and transcribed inside your browser tab. The only thing downloaded is the speech model itself (once, then it's cached). Your audio and transcript never touch a server.
What file formats are supported?+
Anything your browser can play: MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG, OPUS, FLAC, WEBM, and the audio track of MP4 and MOV videos. You can also record straight from your microphone.
How accurate is it?+
It uses OpenAI's open-source Whisper model. Accuracy is very good for clear speech in most major languages. Pick “Accurate” in the options for difficult audio, accents or noisy recordings.
Can I get subtitles (SRT / VTT)?+
Yes. When transcription finishes, download the result as .srt or .vtt with timestamps, ready for YouTube, Premiere, DaVinci Resolve or any video player.
Why is it slow on my computer?+
Speed depends on your hardware. Browsers with WebGPU (recent Chrome, Edge, Safari) use your graphics chip and are much faster. Without it, everything runs on the CPU. Long files still work — just keep the tab open.
Does it work offline?+
After the model has loaded once, yes — it's cached in your browser, so you can transcribe without an internet connection.
